Sarah Wall- Melbourne Vixen Netballer- Teacher - Director of Jeanieboy
She’s known as the hardest working dynamo at mid-court that the Melbourne Vixens could ever hope for. Netball skills aside, she has a great passion to promote a healthy and active lifestyle to young girls and pass on that anyone’s dreams are possible.
Wall was a member of the Melbourne Vixens 2009 premiership team, before signing with the Queensland Firebirds.
She made her mark in Queensland, establishing herself as a key part of their leadership team. Wall said that the absolute belief invested in her by the Firebirds helped her develop as an athlete and person.
After suffering a severe knee injury in round 11 of the ANZ Championships, Wall returned home to Victoria to rehabilitate, at that time realizing how much she missed her tight-knit family and friends. Wall signed back with the Vixens in August 2010.
Her recovery from the season-ending knee injury was nothing short of heroic. It became the stuff of legend, with athletes at the Victorian Institute of Sport calling the press to tell the story of Wall’s single-minded determination to return to the court for the start of season 2011.
Wall says the Vixens are her inspiration, and she is ecstatic to be once again playing alongside her personal hero, Sharelle McMahon (Melbourne Vixens co-captain and Australian Diamonds captain).
A talent early on, 173cm tall Sarah Wall twice captained the Victorian 21/Under team and was part of the national champion Victorian 19/Under team in 2003.
Sarah Wall was named Rookie of the Year playing for Vixens forerunner squad the Phoenix in 2006, before being named to the Phoenix squad full-time the following year.
As a Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship holder, Sarah progress has included the Victorian open team, the state 21/U side and the U/19 – fair enough to say Sarah Wall is making steady progress on her ambition to wear the green and gold lycra of Australia.
A sports science graduate and design company director of Jeanieboy, Sarah’s work ethic and abilities can be attributed to her personal motto, ‘only possibilities’.
Sarah said “I accept this position as an ambassador for the Peter Hughes Foundation with great honor. I have been privileged to witness some of the great work that the foundation does to support so many through Australia.”
