Adjusting and setting the geyser to an appropriate and safe temperature is probably one of the most significant burn prevention measures that can be undertaken in the home.
Hot water delivery systems should be set to deliver water at less than 50º Celsius – the lower the temperature, the lower the risk.
Test the temperature regulating accuracy of a geyser thermostat by running hot water into a basin and testing with a thermometer to check the temperature. If it is higher than 50º Celsius, adjust the thermostat to a lower setting and recheck 24 hours later.
