Petrol should be transported only a short distance.
Do not include transporting petrol along with a list of other errands you need to accomplish.
When transporting petrol, make sure it is stored in an approved container, with the lid tightly closed.
If you are transporting petrol in a car, keep the container in the boot and keep the lid ajar for ventilation.
Secure the petrol container with a rope or cord to prevent sliding.
Remove the container and store it properly – never store a petrol container in a stationary vehicle.
After filling, transporting or using petrol, wipe the outside of the portable petrol container to remove any liquid or residue.
Do not leave a container of petrol in the direct sunlight, or in the boot of a car that is in the sun. As temperature of petrol rises, it results in a build up of pressure in the container, which could lead to an explosion.
Never smoke around petrol, either while filing or transporting the container.
